Design Retreatz. LLC. and the Step Away Event prides itself on being a trusted source of information, networking, and community for professionals. To meet this goal, we collect some personal data from website users.

Design Retreatz, LLC. is committed to protecting your personal data. We strive to collect the minimum amount of personal data we need and to hold and use it only if necessary to deliver the outstanding service and products you expect.

1. Information from Members.

When you become a member of our site or register to attend an event, we need to collect your contact information to communicate with you about your membership or event and to deliver any subscription products you may purchase. We collect other data from you to help us tailor your experience to your personal and professional interests. You can view and edit this contact information in your Member Profile. 

 

2. Information from Non-Member Website Users.

We also collect minimal personal data from users of the website who are not members or members not logged in, either as data entered voluntarily by the non-member user to fulfill the user’s request for certain services or the use of cookies and other website monitoring techniques. Most information collected through cookies and other website monitoring techniques is anonymous, such as information about your browser type and operating system, number of clicks, and page view statistics. We retain internet protocol (“IP”) addresses as part of our network security to enable us to enforce our terms of service. Website monitoring and preference data collected from non-member website users expire when you close your browser. 3. Personal Information Security.

We use industry-standard security technology and procedures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Do not share your username or password with others, and we recommend that you take every precaution to protect your data when using the Internet, especially when using public computers or unsecured Wi-Fi networks.

4. Data Retention Period.

The standard membership period to Design Retreatz, LLC. is four years. During this period, we will contact you according to the contact preferences you indicate in your member profile.

We will ask you to review your contact information and consent preferences each year. If you do not log in during the four-year term, your account will automatically revert to inactive status. We will contact you only with membership renewal reminders and offers during the inactive period. At any time during the inactive period, you can log in to your member profile to reactivate your membership and update your profile.

 

5. Contact Consent Preferences

You must provide an email address in your member profile where we can communicate with you about your membership status, but you may also opt-in to provide us consent to contact you by email, telephone, or postal mail for specific purposes listed in the contact consent preferences section of the profile.

 

6. Right to Rectification.

Design Retreatz, LLC. and the Step Away Event work best when your information is accurate and complete. You may log in to your membership profile at any time to correct or update any of your contact information or your preferences and contact consent. 

If you cannot correct the information in your profile to your satisfaction, please contact us at info@stepaway.design, and we will promptly remedy the problem with your data.

 

7. Termination of Membership and Right to be Forgotten.

You may cancel your membership at any time by clicking on the “Terminate Membership” link on the member profile's contact consent preferences page. Termination immediately terminates your right to use the free member services or paid content.  Refunds will not be issued for canceled or terminated memberships. Registrations for upcoming conferences or other future events will be unaffected.  Your personal data will be immediately rendered inactive when you request termination, except that the contact information for those registered for upcoming conferences or other events will be retained until the event has occurred so we can update you with important event information.

If we terminate your membership for violating the Terms of Use, we may retain some of your personal data, but only that which is related to the termination and only as long as necessary.

 

8. Collection of Personal Information

8.1 Registration Information.

When you register as a member with Design Retreatz, LLC. and subscribe to the Step Away email newsletter, you must provide contact information and general information about you and your organization. We collect the following types of information during the registration process.

  • Name

  • Organization

  • Job Title

  • Company Industry

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Postal or physical mailing address

  • Credit/debit card information (to process Step Away event registrations)

 

8.2 Automatic Data Collection.

We and some of our third-party service providers automatically and passively collect information about you or your device when you use Design Retreatz, LLC. services.  This data is generally grouped together using cookies and tracking technologies without being associated with individual users or otherwise made anonymous. We use this data to improve the performance of the website and your customer experience. Automatic information collection includes:

  • Internet Protocol Address (IP)

  • Browser Type

  • Operating System

  • Internet Service Provider (ISP)

  • Referring and exiting pages

  • Date/Time of access

8.3 Member Profile.

Your member profile is the primary source for the personal data we collect from you related to your membership. If you would like copies of other personal data that we may have retained, please submit a request to info@stepaway.design, and we will reply within 30 days.

 

9. Processing of your Personal Data

9.1 We use your personal data only per this Privacy Policy. We only process personal data with your consent when it is necessary to deliver Design Retreatz, LLC. products or services to you or when required to comply with legal obligations or other legitimate interests of Design Retreatz, LLC. or others. We use the data to contact you about your membership, to provide you customer service and to deliver products, services, or support, to process payments and registrations for events, seminars, and other paid content, and to personalize website content, advertising, and marketing communications based on your preferences.

 

9.2 Before forwarding your personal data to a third-party processor, the Service will enter a written “Data Processing Agreement” that, among other things, requires the third party to:

  • notify the Service in the event of a breach of personal data

  • We may provide your contact information to industry partners, but only if you are specifically opted-in to receive partner offers as part of your contact consent preferences. You may opt-out of such contact at any time by following the instructions in each email or revising your contact consent preferences in your member profile.

  • We may offer third-party sponsored content on our website that includes a data collection form, which helps the third party deliver service or support to you. You may opt-out of these third-party offers in your contact consent preferences in your member profile. 

  • We may disclose personal data if we believe in good faith that we are required to do so to comply with applicable law, court orders, a subpoena, or other legal requirements.

  • We may disclose personal information to our lawyers or appropriate authorities if we believe that disclosure is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be violating the Terms of Use or to protect other members, site users, or the general public.
